Comparing the Elantra to top competitors

March 27th, 2024 by

Hi, my name is Megan and I am a product specialist here at Focus Hyundai.

Most likely if you are in the market for an Elantra, you’re probably also comparing something like the Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla. Realistically you can’t go wrong with either model, but I wanted to share a couple differences and comparisons that the vehicles have to help you make a more informed decision.

One of the big differences between the Elantra versus the Civic and the Corolla is actually in the economy. So the Elantra sits at 6.5 litres per 100 kilometers combined between city and highway driving compared to the Civic which sits at 6.9 and the Corolla which sits at 6.7.

Another major difference is the rear legroom for those who are going to have frequent passengers in the back. The Elantra sits at 38 inches of rear legroom compared to the Civic which has 37.4 inches and the Corolla sitting significantly less at 34.8 inches.

The final difference I’m going to share with you is in the transmission. Honda and Toyota both use CVT, which is Continuously Variable Transmission, and with our Hyundai’s, specifically in the Elantra as well, we use IVTs, which is Intelligent Variable Transmission. It’s actually designed to improve on the CVT.

It features an adaptive-style shift logic for smoother and more linear acceleration. So there are just a few differences between the Elantra and some other comparative models.

If you’ve had any questions or wanted to go over any of these vehicles anymore, please feel free to come in and see me at Focus Hyundai.
